New Allstate Tank

I picked up this tank from a guy in Colorado.  Saw it on the ChopCult classifieds and had to have it.  He said it came off an oil-in-frame BSA that he picked up.  I got the tank and loved the embossed logo on the side.  I had no idea why an Allstate logo would be on a BSA tank but I went with it.  I did a little research and found out it was a tank from 1960\70 bikes that were sold through Sears overseas made by Allstate.
Pulled the knee guards off and removed the side panels.  I wanted to check the tank for leaks and get rid of the cracked bondo.

I really dig the big cap, reminds me of an old radiator cap.

Going a different direction with my bike and getting rid of the Cole Foster tank with the pinup girl. I think this will make a nice replacement.

I picked up two petcocks off eBay that are british straight pipe thread (BSP).  Installed them so we could check the integrity of the tank.  Only one tiny pinhole to fix so we drained it to figure out the capacity.

Yep still draining.....  Turns out to be about 2 3/4 gallon which is ideal because my current tank holds less than 2 and its a little over 100 miles roundtrip to work almost everyday.  Lets just say I am tired of stopping for fuel on the way home.
