Some Friday Progress

The day started out with the goal of stabbing the motor and finishing the wiring on the Virago project.
Goal one complete, set the motor and dry fit everything to make the list of needed parts and hardware.

Bible Dave showed up with Gabby's bike needing a clutch.  He rode it over and not even then beard kept his neck warm today.  It was around 30 degrees most of the day.
Friction discs soaking and ready to go in.

What do you do when you don't have expensive specialty tools?  You improvise and the shop with the most C clamps prevails!

Deuce reassembles the clutch.

Bible Dave and Phil reassemble the sportster. Gabby will be happy once again.

Once we got the Sportster finished we turned our attention to the the Shovel and the Virago project.  Got the tanks bolted up and she is coming back to life.  The Virago on the other hand is breathing fire at this point.  Figured out the minimal wiring and it started right up.  The Virago has been a long time coming but the shop was nothign but smiles when that motor popped.  Video coming soon!

The Haul: Triumph Chop, Honda CB350 and the Harley Shovel

We loaded up in the truck and headed South, we arrived at this very cool backyard shop for our first pick.
Inside his shop, tons of soul up in here.  He had a split bumper Camaro, another one hiding around the corner and this beautiful '41, not to mention all the cool shop art.

Second stop near the NC border with the '71 Triumph and CB350 in tow.  We loaded up the '75 Super Glide Shovel and headed back North.  We almost didn't have enough truck for this much awesome!!

Zero fucks given to ride this nasty beast.  This was parked and wrapped in plastic for 30 years so needless to say it has some rust.  There is way too much soul in this bike to just leave it there to die.

The weather was crap all day but the rain washed a lot of the funk off the bikes on the trip home.

Here is the barn find CB350 that Deuce dropped $500 on, he just couldn't pass it up and he might have a Honda addiction.

The rain cleaned her up real nice.

Phil and the new shovel, can't wait to hear this thing start up.

A couple extra carbs that came with the deal.

Well here she is.  The new project, '75 Harley Super Glide.  Everything should be there, just have to clean it up and put it back together.

So We had an amazing day with some deals that we will probably never see again.  Started out with an empty truck and returned with some very cool bikes, it was a great day.

A Ride with soul

Our buddy Greg picked up this '51 Panhead through a trade.  Complete 51 in a 57 frame.

Phil and Greg were waiting for Deuce and he rolled in with this gentleman behind him.  His name is Roy and he happens to be quite a dealer and collector of old parts and bikes.  We will see him later today.

Stopped by Greg's place to pick up his old lady.  Here is the rest of his bikes, shovel, Ural and the newer Evo.

We rode to Remington, VA so Greg could get the title transferred.  Deuce and Phil spend their time talking to "Mr Jenkins" who appeared to be the town hobo.  Cool dude and just fit in the pics so we couldn't resist.

We finished up at the DMV and set out to find Roy's house.  Arrived and this is what we found.  A Pan, couple shovelheads, and Ironhead and some great old stuff.  We will definitely be back when he has more time for us to look around.

Virago wiring

Searching for a way to hide all the existing wiring harness
Step one is to yank everything out
Then organize it as seen above. This is called the "a shit pile" method.
Igniter and Reg/Rect mounted on back bone

I wanted to put this out so you can see how much wires will be hidden under the tank.

Quick Ride

Over at the shop for some burgers and we headed out for a short ride. Road out to Fairmont Beach and about halfway there Phil go hit in the knee with something. Stopped for a minute and realized Deuce lost the bolt out of his headlight.
Nothing a little 550 cord won't take care of. Got back and made the burgers. Check out these beauties.  The burgers not the ugly ass dudes.
