82 virago 750 cam tensioner

Here is a short editorial on installing a timing chain cam chain tensioner on a virago 750 should be the same for the 920 and 1000. Remove tensioner.
Drink one bottle beer, preferably PBR, and smash the lid with the largest hammer you have within reach.

Cut yourself a small flat "key" from said smashed lid that will fit between the grooves at the front of the tensioner. Don't worry about measuring it. if you cut wrong. Drink another beer and try again!

Apply pressure to the plunger and screw in (clock ways) throught the hole with a flat head.
While applying pressure slide the key in so that is locks between the side groves and the flathead screw head.

reinstall

remove the made "key" and the sprung self tensioner will self-adjust
